A Word of Thanks

Since the incorporation of the Olympia Philharmonic Society, a 501c3 California non-profit organization, in 1988, there has been many classical music concerts presented to the audiences of Southern California in the form of orchestra, chamber music concerts, and solo recitals.

I am extremely happy that this is the tenth season of the Olympia Youth Orchestra being established for the musical education of our next generation. The musicians on stage this afternoon were selected through our annual competitive audition. Due tot he busy and demanding academic schedule of the students, I have decided to hold only 12 to 14 weekly rehearsals in preparation for each concert. With the high standard of the selected students, the dedication and efficient rehearsal technique of the training staff, I am sure we can achieve our goal of providing excellent training for the orchestra members. I would like to thank Mr. Alan Mautner, string coach; and Mr. John Hoehne, brass coach for their hard work in helping out with the sectional rehearsals of the orchestra. Special thanks should go to all the parents for providing refreshments during our long and tiring rehearsals. I am also extremely proud of the fact that, in these past 2 years, the Olympia Youth Orchestra being selected as one of the Youth Orchestra Partners of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Youth Orchestra Partnership Program which granted us the opportunity to perform at the world famous Walt Disney Concert Hall on March 8, 2009. Now the orchestra is officially a Los Angeles Philharmonic Youth Orchestra Partner Emeritus. More…
